June 2006 mid year update
I know it has been a very long time since I've written anything to update you all on my life... so here is a quick one that wont take you forever to read.
It's been a year filled with ups and downs. Started off well, with a relationship with a great English guy. Unfortunately it didnt work out, but it was a great experience. Then I went to Australia for my annual visit home and got bitten by a poisonous (but not deadly) spider (White
Tailed). For my birthday I went to New Orleans to visit my cousins Halena and Igor and saw Shira (from NY) down there. Then in April I went to Pescara, Italy on the Adriatic Coast with the Swedes, (Sofia and Sven), Graeme and Grant, and Karen M. We also spent two days in Rome. It was a great trip with amazing food and fabulous wine. In May I went to Croatia
with Karen B (from San Fran). We hiked and drove and did sightseeing and white water rafting. Interesting country and beautiful scenery and the most crystal clear water i've ever seen.
Next week I am off to St Andrews, just out of Edinburgh, Scotland for a work conference which I am organising.
Last week, my Aunty Eva died unexpectedly. She was a youngish 75 years old and unknowingly suffered scorosis of the liver for decades most likely. A brief stay in hospital for an infection in her legs, turned very quickly. She hung on till her son Johnny from Israel made it back to Melbourne and she passed 15 minutes after he got to her. Her suffering was short, thank God, and that of the family has been tremendous. Even though I am so far away and alone, I still feel so lucky that I have such a close, loving and supportive extended family. Aunty Eva is the first person in my family in my lifetime to die. I am very sad right now.
I have two new flatmates, who are great. Both Jewish and in their thirties. Georgia is from Scotland and Karyn is from South Africa. The flat has taken a new look and the garden looks great in the early summer sun we are having.
My health is good, thank God and I am making new friends, whilst preparing for some of my existing friends leaving London for new adventures. I am looking for a new opportunity within Deutsche Bank as this is the longest I've ever been in one job. More travelling ahead, I hope, although not much planned for the summer. I am planning to enjoy London in the summer
(if it stays!?!).
